Our Commitments

3 Pillars Our Commitments

Environment, Social, Economy

  • Our Commitments

More than 60 years ago, guided by the conviction that holidays are an essential good for the individual, VTF Vacances gave access to as many people as possible to holidays hitherto reserved for a few.

Today, the world is changing, and we must collectively face unprecedented challenges: climate warming, resource scarcity, and the impact of diet on our health, to name just a few. These issues challenge our relationship to the "making" of vacations. They drive us to act with ever greater responsibility, to rethink our model.

A new path is necessary and possible: we will succeed by acting as a committed and proactive actor in all our value chains and by mobilizing both our employees and our vacationers.

Today, our commitments are centered around 3 pillars:

Pillar 1
Environment: Reducing our carbon footprint and saving energy

1- Reducing our carbon footprint:
As part of our "Mon Restau Responsable®" approach, our meals are prepared with regional products from short supply chains: 60% of the products we serve are of French origin, and we promote local and regional products. We also aim to limit meat consumption and offer plant-based meals such as cereals and vegetables.
Furthermore, we measure the volume of our waste, practice selective sorting, limit paper and individually packaged products, and prioritize the use of reusable containers for picnics.
Our teams are trained in sustainable tourism, environmental management of our establishments, and preservation of our territories, and our vacationers are made aware of eco-friendly practices. Discover the eco-friendly practices.

2- Saving water and energy:
We analyze our energy consumption to optimize it and regularly check our technical installations. We manage the proper use of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Our taps and showerheads are equipped with flow regulators, and toilets have dual-flush systems to save water. Rainwater is used for watering green spaces. Lighting in common areas is equipped with presence detectors and/or timers. Our establishments are undergoing relamping by replacing conventional bulbs with LEDs, and outdoor lighting is turned off when not essential.

Pillar 2
Social: the teams, the territories, the vacationers

1- The VTF teams
Respect for human rights, non-discrimination, equal opportunities, diversity/mix, hygiene, health, and safety in the workplace—our daily actions are embedded in our diversity charter, and since 2022, we have seen progress in our Gender Equality Index.
We implement numerous initiatives to promote professional integration and employment access for young people through welcoming interns, developing work-study programs, and a proactive training policy to support skill development for our employees.
Moreover, we pursue an active policy for integrating workers with disabilities through internal awareness campaigns during the European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities (SEEPH), partnerships with employment service providers (CAP EMPLOI...), and occasional participation in job fairs dedicated to hiring workers with disabilities. VTF Vacances aims to meet its employment obligations for workers with disabilities by 2025.
Quality of life at work is also a central concern. We strive to improve team housing quality at our holiday villages and organize work to allow, as much as possible given the nature of our activity, a balance between professional and personal life. Finally, we implement many actions to sustain employment, especially for seasonal workers: offering a double winter/summer season to fight precariousness, promote skill development, and enhance employee engagement. We also consider transitioning seasonal workers to permanent status when possible, depending on geographic mobility or opening periods.

2- The Territories
We support the development of employment and skills in the territories by promoting local employment, short supply chains, local suppliers, and partnerships with actors of the Social and Solidarity Economy (ESS).
Particularly attached to our territories, we participate in preserving and conserving the locations of our holiday villages. It is clear that the kind of holidays we love would not be viable in a degraded environment. Our efforts will allow future generations to also enjoy authentic vacations: observing preserved flora and fauna, admiring the diversity of landscapes, and discovering, in turn, the richness of local heritage and cultures.
A commitment respectful of others and the environment with certifications and concrete actions: Mon Restau Responsable®, Atout France label for the classification of our holiday villages, and the implementation of an environmental charter.
The year 2022 marked VTF's first steps toward the Green Key certification; a label that formalizes actions conducted for a long time in sustainable development. Five establishments were labeled in 2023 and renewed in 2024 and 2025:

  • The holiday village "Les Florans," in Bédoin
  • The "Clairefont" Hotel in Bandol
  • The "Hôtel des bains" in St Cast
  • The holiday village "Les Balcons de Maurienne" at Karellis
  • The holiday village "Les Oyats," in Carcans Maubuisson.

Eight new sites were labeled for 2024 and renewed for 2025:

  • The holiday village "Le Clair Canigou" in Vernet les Bains
  • The holiday village "La Jaougue Soule" in Biscarrosse
  • The holiday village "Le Pigneroux" in Savines le Lac
  • The hotel "Le Grand Hôtel" in Montgenèvre
  • The holiday village "Le Domaine des Puys" in St Sauves
  • The holiday village "Domaine du Grand Lubéron" in Céreste
  • The holiday village "Le Castelet" in Roquebrune-sur-Argens
  • The holiday village "La Croix de Vinchannes" in Joyeuse.

Four new sites labeled for 2025:

  • The holiday village "Le Rafour" in Arêches Beaufort
  • The holiday village "Les Carlines" in Doucy Combelouvière
  • The holiday village "Les Fougères" in Soultzeren
  • The holiday village "Les Balcons du Sauze" in Le Sauze sur Barcelonnette.

In 2025, VTF will present new villages with the goal of labeling all VTF villages by 2030.

3- The Vacationers
Social diversity, one of the founding elements of VTF, is preserved thanks to agreements signed with social partners such as CAF (Family Allowance Funds) and associations like Secours Populaire and Les Restos du Cœur, and most of our villages are accessible to people with disabilities. We affirm that holidays are moments of sharing and openness to different social or cultural horizons.
In terms of responsible tourism, we encourage carpooling in our activities, raise awareness among our vacationers about climate change, and guide them towards good practices through eco-friendly actions.
Regarding dining, our chefs offer our vacationers dishes cooked on site with the flavors of local specialties, using nearly 50% fresh, raw, and traditional products and 90% seasonal products. Eating well also means paying special attention to the supply chains of the products used in our recipes. Thus, we favor products recognized for their quality and supported by labels or brands such as MSC (sustainable fishing), Bleu-Blanc-Cœur, Label Rouge, AOP, AOC...
Finally, through our activities, we ensure a discovery of the territories where we are located, allowing everyone to be an active participant in their holidays and to strengthen the local economy.

Pillar 3
Economy: the business model, fair pricing, and development

1- The business model
As a Social and Solidarity Tourism Association, our profits do not reward shareholders but are reinvested in the operation of the Association: services, quality and comfort of our facilities, and salaries of our teams. We participate in a non-profit economy, rejecting ultraliberalism, hyperconsumption society, and "all profit" mentality.

2- Fair pricing
VTF offers all-inclusive holidays in France with quality services at a fair price, whether for accommodation, dining, activities, or tours. This means that once you arrive at your holiday destination, you have nothing more to pay. We practice a solidarity policy with family quotient-based rates, sliding discounts for children, special family offers to welcome as many people as possible.

3- Development
Opening new destinations is a daily goal for us while paying particular attention to choosing owners or project leaders who share our social commitments. Management or takeover partnerships are naturally signed with organizations, all stemming from the social economy sector (CSE, CAF, associations, mutuals, foundations, local authorities…).
